Brief Exercise For The New Year,
This One Doesn't Include Barbells
I don’t know about you, but this year, I can feel in the deepest parts of my bones that it’s going to be glorious.
So here’s what I want you to do with that information:
-Get yourself on of them fancy moleskin note books
Then, I want you to write about two very different people,
Going into this with a “man in the mirror” type beat:
-One person who is everything you are that you DO NOT LIKE
-Write down everyday they think, and everything they do
-Next, write about everything you like about yourself and want to be
-Pencil in how THAT person thinks, what THEY do on the daily
This is going to give you an outline of what is the old, and going to be the new you.
Let’s kill the other guy.
Then, you gotta make a list of all of your goals, whether that’s money to be made, people to meet, quota of books to read, etc.
Then you’re going to dedicate a portion of a page to how exactly you’re going to accomplish each one of those tasks:
-I’m going to start sales, copywriting, Doordash, asking uncles for X amount of money per month
-I’m going to do that by studying X, driving Y amount of hours a day or cold calling my relatives Z times per day
When all is said and done, you’ll know:
-Who you DON’T want to be
-Who you DO want to be and WILL be
-How exactly you’re going to become that person.
I have a ritual of doing this every year and it never ceases to amaze me how powerful self reflection is.
Let’s make this next year GREAT.
Warm regards,
Joshua
