The Glim and Glamour Is a Lie

You Only See The Yang Not The Yin

One of my favorite methods of relaxation now is reading the comments on my buddies Tik-Toks or viral videos.

Big ups to Ben Bader, kids hilarious.

With the amount of cave dwellers and basement goblins running around the internet you get to see the pinacol of cynicism.

But quite frankly this isn’t all their fault.

For every amazing thing that anyone I know or myself posts,

Like a boat day, signs at a club or even a nice meal,

There’s been just as many hardships than all the cool or fancy nonsense people post for views.

For every weekday I decide “why not go out tonight, not like I have a 9-5 to go to?”,

I was rolling out of bed between 3-5 AM freshman year of college to take sales calls with unqualified leads for one of my first sales offers.

For every lit up skyline I get to see standing on the front of a boat,

I had a pit of discomfort and grit in my stomach knowing I HAD to meet quota or else we’d lose not only the client,

But our commissions and retainers (monthly base payment) for the month.

For every last minute trip to see family cuz “why not” or spontaneous visits from friends to Miami,

There’s been a random but unavoidable spells of lack of business, calls or dumpster fires of a client issue that kept me up an extra hour or two at night.

The problem with social media is you only see that wins.

Someone who appeared to be nobody starts posting like a Rockstar and these creatures of the night figure they’ve won the lottery,

But in reality the were “BuIlDiNg iN SiLeNcE” and you just didn’t see it.

You cannot have good without bad.

Bitter without sweetness,

Or get belligerently hammered (on life) and not get hungover on occasion.

If it sucks at the moment, you might just be heading in the right direction.

You got nothing to worry about besides living.

Talk soon,
